The Oyster Festival

As I'm sitting on the train into the city, I noticed the little card on all of the seats. I haven't really read these cards before, but today I noticed that the LIRR card. On it there was a description of the Annual Oyster Festival. At first I thought it was all about oysters, but actually there is a lot of great activities for the family. Of course I couldn't forget face painting. So that will be part of the many activities. There will also be lots of crafts. This could be a fun activity to venture out with the whole family and actually use the train to get there or take buses from the Syosset Station.

Plainview Fire Department Fire Safety Day

On Sunday, October 14 from noon - 3pm the Plainview Fire Department will be having an open house to talk about fire safety. It's a great outing for Sunday with the kids and gives a way for your children to meet some of the local fire fighters.

Library Happenings

If you are looking for cheap or free things to do the local libraries are a great place to start. If you stay home with your kids, there is always yoga or story times happening. Many of the libraries also have authors visit.

The Jericho Library has a PJ storytime on Thursday, October 4 at 7pm.

In two weeks, the Plainview-Old Bethpage library is having a craft & gift fair. On October 7 from 10am-6pm. The Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce and the POB Library co-sponsor this family event. Great shopping, live entertainment, inflatable kids rides and food. Free face-painting for all with a donation of non-perishable food or personal care items for LI Cares. Looks like it will be lots of fun.
